Everything has a more polished edge to it, less flat, with more gradients and shadows. The highlights and depth are more pronounced and the elements feel more" tactile", like they're ready to be interacted with and not just painted on a sheet of paper. Scrollbars have been made a bit bigger to make them easier to interact with, there's a new spinning gear when you're waiting for something to happen, and when you open a widget that touches the panel's edge, you'll see a highlight effect as well. Widgets also will use a blurred background instead of being either opaque or transparent. The right click menu now uses a nicer highlight for elements on hover, not just a solid color, which looks pretty good. Unfortunately, that style isn't re-used in source views like Dolphin's sidebar, or the system settings. The changes also affect Breeze dark, and I feel they give this dark variant a lot more contrast and depth as well. On top of that theme, KDE 5.23 introduces accent colors. You get a nice selection row in the colors tab, with predefined colors, but you can also use a color picker or set up your own. The Kickoff menu has also received a lot of improvements. First, you can view apps in a grid or a list, in the favorites AND all categories of the menu. You can also pin the menu to the screen if you want to have it always up, in that case, pressing the super key will dismiss the menu. You can also configure the power and session action buttons and decide to show the captions or not. Now there are a lot of smaller desktop changes as well: When a notification pops-up, you can use control + C to copy its contents to the clipboard, and this clipboard now remembers 20 items, and has an option to only keep what you explicitly copy and not keep the selected text that you could paste using the middle mouse click. The Global menu is supposed to have a more menu like appearance, but I can't say I found it looked very different, especially since the menu header doesn't use the new highlight style from Breeze. You can disable IPv6 in the connection settings if you want to, and plasma now shows you more information about the network you're connected to, including the speed, and the audio volume applet will now differentiate between apps that are playing audio, and apps that are recording audio. In terms of the system settings, there also have been a lot of smaller improvements. The Feedback page now shows a history of what you chose to send, so you can know what you sent exactly. When changing your display settings, you'll now get a timer to let you revert the changes if they don't fit. If you prefer only enabling bluetooth when you need it, you can change its default status on login. On the Night Color page, you now get a small privacy warning, telling you that it uses geolocation using a 3rd party service. The most important change, though, is in the search feature of the settings. They added a lot of keywords to make that search more useful. Now, Discover, the app store for KDE is now faster to load. It will also show you the source you'll use to install an application, directly in the install button. As with every new release of Plasma, we also get improvements to Wayland support0 The system tray will tell you if something is recording the screen, and will let you cancel it if it's undesired.

25 years ago today, Matthias Ettrich sent an email to the de.comp.os.linux.misc newsgroup explaining a project he was working on. The latest and direct result of that email (plus a quarter of a century of relentless experimentation, development and innovation) has just landed in KDE's repositories. This time around, Plasma renews its looks and, not only do you get a new wallpaper, but also a gust of fresh air from an updated theme: Breeze - Blue Ocean. The new Breeze theme makes KDE apps and tools not only more attractive, but also easier to use both on the desktop and your phone and tablet. Of course, looks are not the only you can expect from Plasma 25AE: extra speed, increased reliability and new features have also found their way into the app launcher, the software manager, the Wayland implementation, and most other Plasma tools and utilities. In This Video We Are Discussing About As every week, the KDE developer Nate Graham leaves us on his blog a complete report of the progress that the desktop and its respective tools are experiencing and, as happens from time to time, we have noticed a couple that are the most interesting and that users will not take long to enjoy, as they will arrive together with the next version of the desktop. ► Subscribe me here : 🤍 ► Follow me on Tumblr : 🤍 ► Follow me on Twitter : 🤍 ► Follow me on Pinterest : 🤍 KDE Plasma 5.23 💦 | Improved 🗲 Power Management | Improved 🥾 Boot Menu | Why KDE Plasma 5.23 🙅ucks❓❓ Click Here to Watch More Entertainment : ► Linux Videos : 🤍 ► Buyer Guide Videos : 🤍 ► Raspberry pi Videos : 🤍 ► Review Videos : 🤍 ► Mozilla Videos : 🤍 ► Vpn Videos : 🤍 ► Ipad Videos : 🤍 ► Mac Os Videos : 🤍 ——Subscribe to stay up to date with the channel! —— Make sure to subscribe to the channel & select the 🔔bell push notifications (click the 🔔BELL icon next to the subscribe button) to be notified immediately when I release a new video. ✅ BE SURE TO LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, AND TURN ON NOTIFICATIONS!!! If you have any questions give me a shout on social media & I'll try and answer all the questions you might have. Thanks for watching and I’ll see you next time! First we have a new power management feature that unfortunately not everyone will be able to enjoy, at least initially, but that promises to help manage battery life in a much easier way. As simple as using an application of the style of Slimbook Battery and the like: by choosing an energy profile that suits the circumstances. So switching to a "power saving", "balanced" or "best performance" profile will be as simple as opening the battery and brightness applet from the systray and choosing between one of these three preconfigured states, whose behavior can also be set depending on whether the equipment is connected to the mains or not. The following image shows how it works. This feature "will be available in Plasma 5.23 with a newer computer that supports it when using Linux Kernel 5.12 or higher," explains Graham. The second requirement is already available in recent computers from Dell and Lenovo, although it is ascribed in principle to the latest Intel processors that incorporate this possibility. KDE Plasma 5.23 will also be the version in which the new desktop start menu, Kickoff , is polished , which as you know was completely renewed in KDE Plasma 5.21 ... And yet it has received "a gigantic code revision", including fixes, performance and accessibility improvements, with their respective design tweaks, which the truth is that they were missing, and some "commonly requested features." Above these lines, the Kickoff that Plasma 5.21 introduced… What will change in Plasma 5.23? For example, it will include the option to show all the sections in grid mode, and not just the favorites section; and the lower strip can be configured in greater detail with the session and energy options, as well as iconizing the different actions to achieve a more minimalist aesthetic finish. In short, two small improvements among many that will make KDE Plasma 5.23 a more polished and user-friendly desktop. We will be able to test these and the rest of the news that it incorporates from next October, which is when the launch of this version is scheduled. #kde #kdeplasma #powermanagement #boot #beta Todays Video - KDE Plasma 5.23 will improve power management and boot menu!

If you have any questions give me a shout on social media & I'll try and answer all the questions you might have. Thanks for watching and I’ll see you next time! Recently announced by the KDE Project, KDE Plasma 5.23 25th Anniversary Edition has entered beta phase. Check out what's new in this preview. The KDE Project has announced the general availability for public beta testing of the next series of KDE Plasma 5.23 desktop environments, which is dubbed the “25th Anniversary Edition”. Since KDE Plasma 5.23 will be released in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the project, it is obvious that it will be a major release that features better support for the next generation Wayland display server, making the Plasma desktop more stable, faster and more reliable. Plasma Wayland enhancements include middle click, paste and drag and drop items between the native Wayland and XWayland apps, the ability to adjust the Intel GPU driver RGB Broadcast settings, the ability to change the screen resolution when run in a virtual machine and better touchpad gestures. In addition, virtual desktops are now remembered by activity, there's a new screen rotation animation and a new animated cursor icon and Task Manager feedback when launching apps, and the system tray will now notify users when something is recording on the screen. KDE Plasma 5.23 also brings several other new features and improvements, such as an improved Kickoff app launcher that now allows users to choose between a list or grid for the All Apps view, set the launcher to stay on screen as long as you want, as well as the ability to configure power and session action buttons. Plasma Discover's package manager has been improved to load faster and show the name of the source an application will be installed from on the install button. It also brings the ability to retain multi-screen layouts in X11 and Wayland sessions. According to the KDE Project: “Plasma 25th Anniversary Edition is a leap forward in the quest for a desktop with more performance and usability. We've improved Plasma's speed and stability, while adding changes that make it easier to use on both desktops and touch devices.” The release of KDE Plasma 5.23 also promises a revamped “Present Windows” effect and a much improved Breeze theme with buttons, checkboxes, menu items, radio buttons, scrollbar, reworked sliders and spinboxes, blurred background for desktop widgets and a new gear loading spinner in Plasma and KDE apps. The System Settings app has also been enhanced to allow users to set the status of a Bluetooth adapter at login, rearrange the list of screen refresh rates, as well as improve search and privacy features. To top it off, the Colors page of the system settings now allows you to override the accent color of a color scheme. Among other noteworthy changes, KDE Plasma 5.23 beta adds a simple login button to the login screen for passwordless accounts, updates the Plasma-Networks applet with support for additional authentication settings for OpenVPN connections, and removes the transparent effect on windows when moving or resizing them. Of course, several crashes and crashes have been fixed, so KDE Plasma 5.23 should be more stable and reliable. That said, if you want to try the beta version, I strongly recommend downloading the latest edition of KDE neon Unstable. However, keep in mind that this is pre-release software, not recommended for production use. #KDE #KDEplasma #Beta #anniversaryedition #KDEneon Todays Video - KDE Plasma 5.23 Beta Released As The 25th Anniversary Edition!

For years, KDE Plasma has been among the most-used desktop environments. This is due to its seemingly endless customization options, flashy looks, and feature-filled updates. With KDE Plasma 5.23, the desktop environment marks 25 years of work. Hence, this release is also known as Plasma 25th Anniversary Edition. It’s just wild to imagine that Matthias Ettrich (founder of KDE) reached out to a newsgroup back on October 14, 1996, to get help from fellow programmers for his “Kool Desktop Environment” project. And, look, where we are now… In this update, we get to see some significant UI improvements, both within Plasma and third-party apps. KDE Plasma 5.23: What’s New? This update brings many improvements, including: Desktop accent colors New breeze theme New power management quick control More customization options for the app launcher Hundreds of bugfixes Here, we will be looking at all these new improvements. :: More :: KDE Plasma 5.23 is officially out this morning as the newest major open-source desktop release and is known now as the KDE 25th Anniversary Edition. The KDE community is celebrating the 25th birthday of what started as the "Kool Desktop Environment" and they now have this new Plasma release that is in very good shape to mark the occasion. KDE Plasma 5.23 / 25th Anniversary Edition is very exciting with countless improvements, much better Wayland support that is good enough for day-to-day use for most individuals, and a number of other noticeable refinements throughout. Some of the highlights for today's KDE Plasma stable update include: - Much improved Wayland support, including better touchpad gestures handling, drag-and-drop between native Wayland and XWayland applications, cursor animation fixes, a new screen rotation animation, and much more. - Multi-screen layouts are now retained across X11 and Wayland sessions. - Improvements to the Breeze theme. - A "gigantic" overhaul to the Kickoff application launcher, which takes care of many bugs and makes other improvements. - A wide variety of improvements to KDE Plasma's System Settings. - KDE Discover loads much faster. :: More :: As for the network widget, Plasma now shows more details about the currently-connected network, including the speed. In addition, the audio volume applets now will differentiate between apps that are playing audio and apps that are recording audio. In terms of the system settings there also have been a lot of smaller improvements. The most important change is in the search feature of the settings. Previously you could only search for the name of the categories and some elements like the tab names or the entries in the desktop effects lists. KDE Plasma 5.23 adds a lot of keywords to make that search more useful. How to Get KDE Plasma 5.23 The easiest way to try it out is via KDE Neon Linux distro. Just navigate to the download page and get the User Edition ISO file. You can try on a virtual machine or install it as a fresh system. #Kde #KdePlasma #NewFeatures #MajorUpdate #25thAnniversary Todays Video - KDE Plasma 5.23 Release Marks its 25th Anniversary With Exciting Improvements!

And KDE Plasma 5.23.1 was officially released with improvements to Plasma Wayland and more. Check out the news and see how to install on Linux. The KDE Plasma Desktop is an amazing environment that offers a beautiful appearance of the desktop that Total takes advantage of modern computing technology. The team behind the project says that if you're looking for a familiar working environment, Plasma Desktop gives you all the tools you need for a modern desktop computing experience so you can be productive right from the start. In fact, through the use of visual effects and scalable graphics, the desktop experience is not only smooth but also pleasing to the eye. Now, the KDE Project today released the first one-off release in its series of KDE Plasma 5.23 desktop environments, KDE Plasma 5.23.1, fixing several issues and improving existing functionality. KDE Plasma 5.23.1 released – Check out what's new Last week, on October 14th, the KDE Project celebrated its 25th anniversary with the release of the KDE Plasma 5.23 desktop environment series, a major update that introduced many new features and improvements. Now the first release point is already here, addressing various issues with the Plasma Wayland session, like a crash that occurred immediately after logging in when using the right Alt never chooses advanced 3rd level keyboard configuration. In addition, the Plasma Wayland session now offers better support for GNOME apps, which now fully refresh their content when the window is maximized, and improves support for more apps to open with a normal window size the first time they are started. In addition to these Wayland Plasma improvements, the timely release of KDE Plasma 5.23.1 improves support for Flatpak and Snap applications in the Discover package manager, which no longer crashes on Linux distributions that don't offer specific distro packages like Gentoo, improves the KWin window manager so that it no longer crashes when exiting the Firefox browser and offers better support for multi-screen configurations. Also enhanced in this release is logging in using the “Others…” page of the login screen, right-clicking a file from the desktop when multiple files are selected, switching between views in the apps panel, as well as support for OpenConnect VPNs using a password-protected FSID key with a user certificate and no private key. KDE Plasma 5.23.1 also fixes the “clear emoji history” action, as well as suspend and hibernate actions, and includes several other bug fixes. How to install or update Plasma 5.23.1 is already official, but as usual this doesn't mean we can easily install it on our Linux distribution. The first system to have it available will be KDE neon, where it will probably arrive in the next few hours. Later, they will add other distributions, among which Rolling Releases will come sooner, although that doesn't mean they will soon; it may take a few days or even a few weeks. Then the KDE Plasma 5.23.1 desktop environment will soon arrive in the stable software repositories of your favorite Linux distribution, especially releases like KDE neon, Arch Linux, openSUSE Tumbleweed and Solus. #KDE #Plasma #Kdeplasma #Wayland #Improvements Todays Video - KDE Plasma 5.23.1 released!

To upgrade: Add the following repository to your software sources list: ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports or if it is already added, the updates should become available via your preferred update method. The PPA can be added manually in the Konsole terminal with the command: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports and packages then updated with sudo apt full-upgrade IMPORTANT Please note that more bugfix releases are scheduled by KDE for Plasma 5.23, so while we feel these backports will be beneficial to enthusiastic adopters, users wanting to use a Plasma release with more rounds of stabilisation/bugfixes ‘baked in’ may find it advisable to stay with Plasma 5.22 as included in the original 21.10 (Impish Indri) release. The Kubuntu Backports PPA for 21.10 also currently contains newer versions of KDE Gear (formerly Applications) and other KDE software. The PPA will also continue to receive updated versions of KDE packages other than Plasma, for example KDE Frameworks. :: More :: The KDE project has recently released a new update to its environment. It is now available and you can install the latest version of KDE Plasma 5.23 on Kubuntu 21.10. Released last week, Kubuntu 21.10 ships with KDE Plasma 5.22.5 as the default desktop environment, but users who want to use the recently released KDE Plasma 5.23 “25th Anniversary Edition” desktop environment can now upgrade their installations if they have the Kubuntu Backports PPA repository installed. Now, the Kubuntu team announced today that KDE Plasma 5.23.1 packages are now available in the Kubuntu Backports PPA repository, along with the KDE Frameworks 5.87 and KDE Gear 21.08.2 software packages, to enhance your Plasma and Desktop experience. KDE apps. According to developer Nate Graham, KDE Plasma 5.23 will have an improved Breeze theme, a result of work by developer Jan Blackquill. KDE Plasma 5.22 has been released and is making its way into the software repositories of several popular Linux distributions, but work has already begun on the next major release, KDE Plasma 5.23. As with all previous versions of the beautiful and modern KDE Plasma desktop environment, the next release of KDE Plasma 5.23 will have many new features and improvements, and the first big change was revealed by renowned KDE developer Nate Graham on his personal blog. KDE Plasma 5.23 will have an improved Breeze theme KDE Plasma 5.23 promises to offer users a more beautiful Plasma desktop experience, including an updated Breeze theme with a nice new style for buttons, radio buttons, checkboxes, menu items, sliders, etc. Not only will this provide a prettier Plasma experience, but also more error-free, as the new Breeze theme style addresses some old style issues like Breeze's sliders becoming invisible when selecting the parent widget or the default color for a more visually obvious dialog button. According to developer Nate Graham: "There's a lot of time left to adjust the final look as needed, but overall I think it's pretty good and I hope you're as excited about it as I am." The new Breeze theme style was implemented by developer Jan Blackquill, following mockups created by Manuel Jesus de la Fuente and other KDE VDG members. This work will be available as part of the next release of KDE Plasma 5.23 on October 12, 2021 Obviously, KDE Plasma 5.23 will bring many other new features and improvements, like a much faster Window Rules tab in the System Settings when using a lot of window rules. So, keep an eye on the Blog for more awesome KDE Plasma news in the future. #kdeplasma #kde #plasmadesktop #desktopenvironment #linux Todays Video - KDE Plasma 5.23 Promises Beautiful New Breeze Theme Style!

And officially released KDE Plasma 5.23.4 with Touchpad applet, and fixes. Now, the KDE Project has released the fourth point release in its series of KDE Plasma 5.23 desktop environments, KDE Plasma 5.23.4. KDE Plasma 5.23.4 released – Check out what's new KDE Plasma 5.23.4 is here three weeks after the KDE Plasma 5.23.3 update and restores the Touchpad applet that was previously available in the Plasma 5.22 series. The applet is now available as a read-only status notifier that only shows you when your laptop's touchpad has been disabled. This one-time release also improves the Plasma Wayland session to allow users to run XWayland apps as a different user, improves the Media Frame applet to display folder images that contain unusual characters such as backticks in their names, and improves notification about the Critical battery level to disappear automatically when you connect your laptop to the charger. Also, KDE Plasma 5.23.4 improves the “roll back this change” dialog on the System, Display and Monitor Settings page, to be better when using a language with long words like German or Brazilian Portuguese, and reintroduces one and blurred background for the logout screen. Support for Flatpak and Snap apps has also been improved in this update as the open/save dialogs now remember their previous size when reopened. Also, there is better support for the Alacritty GPU accelerated terminal emulator to have the correct window size when opened. This release also removes unnecessary toolbar buttons borders from GTK3 apps that don't use CSD headerbars (client-side decorations) like Inkscape or FileZilla, improves Breeze-style scrollbars, and fixes common system tray crashes and on plasma Discover when managing Flatpak apps. There are a total of 35 changes in KDE Plasma 5.23. To learn more about this version of KDE Plasma, visit the release note . How to install or update Plasma 5.23.4 is now official, but as usual this doesn't mean we can easily install it on our Linux distribution. The first system to have it available will be KDE neon, where it will probably arrive in the next few hours. Later, they will add other distributions, among which Rolling Releases will come sooner, though that doesn't mean they will soon; it may take a few days or even a few weeks. Then the KDE Plasma 5.23.4 desktop environment will soon arrive in the stable software repositories of your favorite Linux distribution, especially releases like KDE neon, Arch Linux, openSUSE Tumbleweed and Solus. #DesktopEEnironment #KdePlasma #PlasmaDesktop #Touchpad #BugFix Todays Video - KDE Plasma 5.23.4, Bugfix Release for November!

KDE Plasma v5.23 received the label of the 25th anniversary edition. It introduced new features, and one of the most prominent was a new default theme, but, as in every release, there were also bugs to fix. Today, the calendar was marked by a point update, a plasma 5.23.3 that already has been announced. Although there are still two point updates left for this series to reach the end of its life cycle, it is a bit surprising in Plasma 5.23.3 they have fixed so many bugs. Six of them are destined to improve Wayland, the graphical server of the future that is already part of the present in desktops like GNOME, although there are still things that do not work as they should. If so, there would not be so many problems recording the screen and the Ubuntu Live session would not open in X11. Although the truth is that not everything is the fault of Wayland, as shown by one of the bugs in the following list that has improved things in the Firefox web browser. Some of the novelties of Plasma 5.23.3 The Plasma Networks applet now allows you to successfully connect to an OpenVPN server with a .p12 certificate protected by a passphrase. In the Plasma Wayland session: Turning an external monitor off and back on no longer causes Plasma to hang. Hovering over the Digital Clock applet to display its tooltip no longer hangs Plasma. The show / hide animation of a panel set to auto-hide mode now works. Pasting arbitrary clipboard content into a file now works. Fixed a case where launching System Monitor could cause the ksgrd_network_helper process to crash. The Minimize All effect / widget / button now remembers which window was active and makes sure that window ends up on top by restoring all minimized windows. Changing from a dashboard widget to an alternate one using the "Alternatives ..." popup no longer reorders widgets. Switching between virtual desktops when windows are maximized no longer causes the panel to flicker, especially when using a dark color scheme or Plasma theme. The 'large focus rings' feature from Plasma 5.24 has been carried over to Plasma 5.23 as it resolves a number of focus related bugs and issues and has proven to be stable so far. Right-clicking the systray icon of a GTK application no longer causes all hell to break loose. Desktop items with emblems in the lower right corner (such as the "I am a symbolic link" emblem) no longer display two slightly different sized emblems, one stacked on top of the other. Applying any changes to the System Preferences keyboard page no longer resets the Num Lock setting to its default value. The back button at the top of the System Preferences subcategory column can now be activated with a touch screen and stylus. In the Plasma Wayland session, Firefox now responds better to drag and drop files. In the Plasma Wayland session, the panel auto-hide animation now works correctly. Your code now available plasma 5.23.3 has been announced a few minutes ago, which means that your code is now available for developers to start working with. #KDE #KDEPlasma #DesktopEnvironment #Linux #Plasma Todays Video - KDE Plasma 5.23.3 Further Improved the Wayland Session, Ports Plasma 5.24’s Focus Ring Feature, Plasma 5.23.3 arrives fixing bugs in Wayland and a bit of everything!

There's a new Overview effect, that you can access with Super + W . It's basically the GNOME Activity view. KDE also now supports fingerprint login. It's also now much easier to set a default wallpaper, just right clicking on any image file will allow you to set it as the background. Panels can be dragged and moved using the main interface when editing Plasma panels. Right clicking on the desktop now shows a Configure display settings option. The Plasma Pass password manager has been redesigned, and zones that you can scroll in various widgets now use the same style. The weather widget will prompt you to be configured at first launch, you can decide to always show the date below the time in the clock, and the main menu's sidebar doesn't use arrows anymore. In the task manager, you can set new tasks to appear on the left instead of on the right.Programs that play audio will also get a volume slider in their tooltip. Very important notifications will now sport an orange strip on the side so you can tell that it's super duper important you look at it and maybe do something. The headers and title text are now more constrasted and more legible, notifications that are related to a video file will now show a little thumbnail of said file, so they're treated like all other multimedia files Finally, Krunner has a new inline help feature. The focus effect on various widgets, like buttons, text fields, checkboxes, or radio buttons has been enlarged. Your folder icons will also now follow your accent color if you chose one, or the color used for selections. Speaking of accent colors, you can now define a custom one directly next to the pre-made selections, which is much easier. Some color schemes haves been modified, with the basic Breeze being renamed Breeze Classic, so there's less confusion with Breeze Light and Breeze Dark, and the latter will replace Breeze High Contrast. In KDE, even the settings have settings and these have been moved to the system setting's hamburger menu. Pages that used a single grid or a list now have a more modern, frameless style. The display and monitor settings page now shows the scale factor for each display and their physical resolution, the speaker test feature has been revamped and looks better, and enabling auto login will now prompt you to make changes to your password wallet. Discover can now automatically reboot your computer once an update is complete, and it also shows a bottom tab bar if the window is very narrow, like on mobile devices. T he updates page has been reworked, and it tells you the source of the update. Discover can also open and install flatpakref files that you downloaded locally. KDE 5.24 keeps working towards making Wayland a first class citizen. It adds a drawing tablet page in the settings, it supports greater colors than 8 bits, The screenshot tool can now capture the active window on Wayland as well, and support for VR headsets is back, with better performance. You can also define a primary monitor, minimize all windows using the widget of the same name, and there are multiple improvements to touchscreen devices, notably to make the virtual keyboard appear, or with using styluses.

In fact, through the use of visual effects and scalable graphics, the desktop experience is not only smooth but also pleasing to the eye. Now, the KDE Project today released the second one-off release in its series of KDE Plasma 5.23 desktop environments, KDE Plasma 5.23.2. KDE Plasma 5.23.2 released – Check out what's new There are over 30 changes included in this update. KDE Plasma 5.23.2 arrives just a week after KDE Plasma 5.23.1 and introduces a great feature for NVIDIA GPU users, namely, support for the GBM backend of NVIDIA's proprietary graphics driver. Over time, this should improve the Plasma experience for NVIDIA users in a number of ways. If you are using the Plasma Wayland session, you should know that KDE Plasma 5.23.2 improves the Touchpad page in System Settings to correctly display options on how you can right click and fix a bug that causes maximized windows stop responding to mouse and keyboard input when using the hidden “BorderlessMaximizedWindows” setting. Speaking of keyboard input, this release sees the return of the F10 keyboard shortcut to create a folder on the desktop, as well as the Shift + Delete keyboard shortcut to permanently delete items on the desktop. Also, KDE Plasma 5.23.2 improves search fields throughout the Plasma desktop to work correctly when using the virtual keyboard. Plasma Discover's graphics package manager also received attention in this one-off release, now allowing users of certain distros, such as Fedora Linux, to immediately remove an application after it has been installed without having to exit and restart Discover. Also, the Plasma Discover install buttons now look good on systems running KDE Plasma 5.23 with KDE Frameworks 5.86 and adds the ability to detect when a locally downloaded package is already installed when you try to install it, so you can remove it. Among other noteworthy changes, KDE Plasma 5.23.2 improves the new Kickoff application menu “Keep Open” feature to keep the popup open even when you want to launch applications or open menu items, as well as not to display more apps from the last category highlighted in the main view when hovering over the “Help Center” item in the sidebar. Last but not least, this second version of KDE Plasma 5.23 brings back the ability to display the desktop context menu actions “Add to Trash” and “Delete”, improving support for the configuration dialog of the Plasma applet on 1024 × 768 resolution screens when using the bottom panel and improves support for multi-monitor configurations. Plasma 5.23.2 is already official, but as usual this doesn't mean we can easily install it on our Linux distribution. The first system to have it available will be KDE neon, where it will probably arrive in the next few hours. #KDE #Plasma #KDEPlasma #Nvidia #LinuxDistro Todays Video - KDE Plasma 5.23.2, Bugfix Release for October!

KDE Plasma(5.23.3) Alacritty(0.9.0) Wayland window bug

I think it broke after updating my packages and rebooting. Alacritty is working. I can type commands but the window is invisible. I can only make it visible by using meta+arrow key. If I try to drag it, it disappears instantly. When I resize the window with the mouse while it is visible using the arrow key trick the issue is temporarlily fixed. Until it is closed and opened again. alacritty 0.9.0 (fed349aa) plasmashell 5.23.3 kf5-config version Qt: 5.15.2 KDE Frameworks: 5.87.0 kf5-config: 1.0 Kernel: 5.14.16-zen1-1-zen Arch linux I recorded my screen: 🤍 Alacritty doesn't seem to report any issues. How should I investigate this further? How can I find out if it's kdes fault or alacritty's fault? (or mine)
