This series demonstrates how to connect Unreal Engine 4 to an Arduino device, enabling you to create games which interact with the physical world. Part 2 describes how to install the UE4Duino Plugin and setup a simple Blueprint to connect, disconnect and send data to the device. The UE4Duino plugin can be found here: 🤍 Currently the Plugin has only been updated to version UE4 4.22 but it can be recomplied (or auto-updated by the Engine) for 4.23. You will need Visual Studio 2017 with the UE4/C solution installed if updating the plugin.
Environment Master Materials Pack Includes: Base Material setup with typical channels like Albedo, Packed Mask, and Normals. Tiling parameters, including bump offset or parallax occlusion. Parameters to customize the base material. Advanced Features: POM - Parallax occlusion mapping Puddles - Vertex paint water puddles and wetness. Slope Blend - Evironment effects like snow, moss, dust or dirt that automatically masks out based on slope. Slope Blend sub features: World Height clamp - keep snow on assets at certain elevations Vertex Height clamp - shift the snow, wetness, or moss up or down the height of the asset. Displacement - (requires high vert count) Pushes out the verts based on moss or snow location, to mimic buildup. TAA Blending - Option to blend props, environment assets and foliage smoothly into terrain. Vertex Blending - Add two extra layers of materials, like snow and moss. Fully customizeable blending. World Color Breakup - Use world aligned texture to breakup large areas of ground, helpful to hide repeating elements. Detail Texturing - Camera based detail textures to introduce fine granular textures, useful for hiding blurry tiling textures. LOD Toggle - create LOD MICs and simply check the LOD Toggle to drop out any expensive features. Master Quality - Quality switches are setup to remove any superfluous options and lower settings automatically. This pack of materials come with an architecture master that works with environment assets and props as well. It also comes with a lite version with less options and features. Unreal Engine 4.23 was released today along with the ChaosDestructionDemo. You have to download and build from the source. I used Visual Studio 2019 Community version to build. You will also have to build the project. Tomorrow I will continue with learning. Just glad to have it working. Good Night.

NOTE: This is a 10-bit HDR video, if it appears dark for you, please wait for me to upload the SDR version. As we've been making progress with Fallout 3 Unreal, I decided to re-record the intro scene. I've made some changes though, added some extra lighting effects, particles and replaced some of the old assets with the new ones. It's still has a bunch of original Fallout 3 meshes/textures but that is quickly changing as we finish remaking more and more of them. I will actually be recording this into one more time in the future, once all of the assets are finished being recreated. I also ran some of the original FO3 textures through an AI upscaler, which made a good bit of difference, but not nearly enough. All of these will be replaced as the new assets are made. I also plan to put up a gameplay demo video at some point, once I finish polishing the gun play. This version was recorded outside of the sequencer at 4K HDR 10-bit 60fps using an external capture. Some ray tracing features enabled. RT features used: global illumination, shadows, reflections, ambient occlusion. Here is my latest little home-tinkering project, a procedural forest of 1x1km I wanted to try out some of Unreals features like the Foliage Volumes, PoM, Contact Shadows and the new SSGI that arrived in 4.23. In the scene, 100% of all the assets were placed using either the Procedural Foliage Volumes or Grass Layers. I used volumes to place all the larger assets, even the rocks, and anything small enough not to require collision was placed using landscape Grass Layers. The goal here was to see if I could make a believable scene/world without placing anything manually. I also.. may have exaggerated the GI quite a bit , because GI is cool! That is all. All the assets and textures are scanned by myself and modelled in Blender 2.8. It was all scanned in the same little patch of forest that I found close to where I live. It had a pretty unique look compared to everything surrounding it, so I wanted to see if I could capture it, turn it into up to 11 and into a bigger patch of forest.
